Camping

Aubrie and I with our marshmallow roasters- ready for the Chocolate!

Well, I survived my first camping experience! We had about every challenge a family could have when all they want is everything to go smoothly! We left about 8 on Saturday morning and drove in dark blue clouds the hole way up to Lake Shetek. When we go there it started to rain! We had to pull over and put the tarp on the boat in the rain- ICK. By the time we got to our camping spot the rain had stopped and we set up our "home away from home" for the night.

We then packed up the boat and hit the lake- what a great lake it was, however we were nervous about the depth and Jeremy thought he had a solution to that problem by installing a depth finder- when we went to turn it on it DIDNT WORK! We stayed a good distance from the shore just to be safe. By this time we had great temps and SUN! We did a little tubing, kneeboarding and fishing then cruised around the lake. Aubrie was tubing and when we went to pull her in we shut off the boat - little did we know it wasnt going to start back up b/c the fish finder fried a line! UGH oh well we went to the marina -thank goodness it was open- and thought we got what we needed to fix it. Well it didnt work! Long story short- we were practically hot wiring our own boat for the next couple hours and then went back to the camp ground.

We cooked up supper, made some smores and then off to bed it was. During the middle of the night we got strong wind and RAIN!! I freaked and made everyone go to the Tahoe to get some rest- the rain slowed down and jeremy convinced me to go back to the DRY (thank you Lord!) tent- when we woke up Sunday morning everything was a mess- but we survived!

We packed up and went for breakfast only to see another front coming through..... we packed up the tent and headed home! Maybe next time things will go better- Aubrie enjoyed it and i must say it wasnt so bad---
