Life is getting away from me.....

Well once again I let this blog thing go to long in between updates- Instead of trying to think and catch everyone up I will just list some highlights...
First off Aavyn is doing WONDERFUL! He has very little seizure activity and is really starting to show his personality (sometimes i think it is more of and ATTITUDE!) We are all having so much fun with him!
Aubrie is still loving school and dance, she gets very bored when she is home and thus her and I buck heads very often! I keep wondering if its like this at 6 what will 16 bring!?? (pray for my sanity!)
For Jeremy and I we have had some busy weekends- the weekend of Oct 11 him and a couple friends went to Tailcot Lake fishing while Aavyn and I went with Kristin to do some wedding dress shopping--- let me tell you she will be the most gorgous bride in the world! Last weekend Jeremy and his brother Kelly ventured to the Iowa/Wisconsin game with a bunch of people. So Friday night the kids and I met Tiff, my gma, gpa, pauline and rod and little sophie at the Pizza Ranch in Sheldon for supper, then on Saturday we ventured out to Sioux City to see Erin and the girls and get a little shopping done. We were successful thanks to the help of Grandma Nancy using her eyes to help watch Aubrie! Sunday we went to Sioux Falls to BUY (yes she made a decision!) Kristins wedding dress- Now if the day could come quicker ;)
This weekend my girlfriend since the 1st grade is getting married! I along with 2 other friends are personal attendants- I really hope this rainy cold weather goes away so her day can be just like in her dreams (no one wants rain on their wedding day!)
Otherwise we are enjoying the little time we spend together as a family and hoping things slow down soon!
Hopefully I can stay on track.... until next week.....

More teeth

Well Aavyn has been super fussy lately and we found out why! He cut tooth #2 AND #3 this weekend. He now has two top front ones and on bottom on. He looks so cute! We also gave him another buzz cut yesterday- his hair grows so fast/
Nothing to exciting this past week- we kinda layed low and chilled. This Labor day weekend we are going to Kelly and Erins to boat and then most likely the parade in Sheldon on Monday depending on the weather. We hope to get our boat out a couple more times this year before we winterize it so we are praying for some more warm weekends!
Aubrie is surviving school so far- she was a struggle the first couple days to get up and get moving but this morning she was all on top of it- she had pictures today ill be interested to see how she looked by the time she got them taken haha-

Nothing else to exciting--- until next week.....

School Time

Well I just got done sending Aubrie off for her first day of 1st grade! Holy cow can you believe how quickly time has gone. It seems like yesterday I was dropping her off at preschool and she ran in and told me to stay! Oh time has not changed much, already we are not "cool" parents as we have an extremely independant child! (no clue where she got that from!)

This past weekend was pretty low key. Friday night we went to Edgerton to help Kris and Eric celebrate their grand opening of Aqua Lanes, then early Saturday morning (615 to be exact) we had a controlled burn in Matlock.. I learned alot in the short time I was there. Then it was off to Cutty's to drop off Carsyn (Erin didn't see the humor in us just keeping her for another week haha) and we went boating, then for supper at Mrs Ladys-- YUMMY!

Sunday was very low key- Aavyn and I slept in til 10! Jeremy was gone fishing so we were in no hurry to do anything.

Nothing else to exciting this week-- until next time.....

Time is getting away from me...

Hello to all again! Well since I last updated we have been really busy (suprise huh!?) We have been getting things lined up for when school starts- Aubrie starts on Tuesday the 19th. I got to experience my first EMT call last week also- boy was I nervous! It was a great first call as there was not to much guts or nothing so scary that would freak me out! We also managed to squeeze in another camping trip to Yankton last weekend. I know what you are all thinking... "tricia camped again! YES i did. We were supposed to be in little mini cabins that had beds, A/C and a fridge, but they overbooked them so we got "upgraded" to a humungo camper. It had a loft! It was nice and didnt feel closed in at all while we were in there. We boated all day saturday then went to eat crab legs at JoDeans - jeremy has wanted to go there for sometime now it just never made sense to drive 90 miles to eat! It was really good and Aavyn loved the strawberry ice cream! We packed up on sunday and came home- Speaking of Aavyn he has been quite the little pistol lately. Bedtime in his eyes is 11 pm ! He sleeps well when he finally is done being silly. He is really starting to express his feelings alot lately- if he wants more of something he squeels and if he is unhappy with something you know that too!. Physical therapy has been going well- we are working on sitting up and continue to work on head control.
We are having an eventful week this week as well. Audrey and Carsyn are here to visit while Kelly and Erin are in Cabo San Lucas! (im soooo jealous! but spoiling my nieces is really fun too!) We have Carsyn til friday night and Audrey and Aubrie left today to camp with grandma ruth at cuttys.
This Friday we will go help Kristin and Eric celebrate their grand opening of the bowling alley and bar up in Edgerton. We are so happy for them and wish they lived closer for the bar part :) Saturday we will be up at the lakes and sunday R E L A X and get aub in routine for school.
All in all we are healthy and good- I will post some pics on my monday update (thanks to Jackie for reminding me i was behind-haha)
Until next time......

Aubrie's 6th Bday Party

Aubrie's Birthday party was also a success! She got lots of great new things- Thank you all for coming!

Camping

Aubrie and I with our marshmallow roasters- ready for the Chocolate!

Well, I survived my first camping experience! We had about every challenge a family could have when all they want is everything to go smoothly! We left about 8 on Saturday morning and drove in dark blue clouds the hole way up to Lake Shetek. When we go there it started to rain! We had to pull over and put the tarp on the boat in the rain- ICK. By the time we got to our camping spot the rain had stopped and we set up our "home away from home" for the night.

We then packed up the boat and hit the lake- what a great lake it was, however we were nervous about the depth and Jeremy thought he had a solution to that problem by installing a depth finder- when we went to turn it on it DIDNT WORK! We stayed a good distance from the shore just to be safe. By this time we had great temps and SUN! We did a little tubing, kneeboarding and fishing then cruised around the lake. Aubrie was tubing and when we went to pull her in we shut off the boat - little did we know it wasnt going to start back up b/c the fish finder fried a line! UGH oh well we went to the marina -thank goodness it was open- and thought we got what we needed to fix it. Well it didnt work! Long story short- we were practically hot wiring our own boat for the next couple hours and then went back to the camp ground.

We cooked up supper, made some smores and then off to bed it was. During the middle of the night we got strong wind and RAIN!! I freaked and made everyone go to the Tahoe to get some rest- the rain slowed down and jeremy convinced me to go back to the DRY (thank you Lord!) tent- when we woke up Sunday morning everything was a mess- but we survived!

We packed up and went for breakfast only to see another front coming through..... we packed up the tent and headed home! Maybe next time things will go better- Aubrie enjoyed it and i must say it wasnt so bad---

We have a birthday coming up...

Happy Monday !
Not many new and exciting things this past week. Jeremy spent the weekend fishing with some friends at Spirit Lake, while I helped with the Boyden Bash, Aubrie was at Ryans and Aavyn just went with the flow of things.
This week is going to be a busy one- Aubrie starts T-ball tonight lets just hope she pays a little more attention this year and runs to the correct base and does not sit by 3rd base and build sandcastles! We are convinced the time we have put in by playing catch and hitting the ball will pay off! Aubrie also turns 6 on Wednesday! Where does time go!? It seems like only yesterday chaos began ;) We have a party planned for Friday night at the Pizza Ranch.
This coming weekend will be my first experience in the camping enviroment! WHAT AM I THINKING! We are heading to Lake Shetek in MN on Saturday morning and staying in a tent of all things! Pray for good weather as I have no clue on this "roughing" it stuff ;) This is what Aubrie wanted for her birthday was to go camping! (is she really my child!?) But I am excited about it and also to just boat on a different lake for a change and practice up on my skiing and kneeboarding skills.
Aavyn is loving his glasses and wears them a little more each day. We mixed up his meds a bit different again and it seems to be helping. YAH!
Hope everyone is well.... Until next week..............

Adventureland and Omaha Zoo

We made it!! This weekend was so much fun for the kids and adults! We started out Saturday morning around 645 and headed to SiouxCity to meet up with Kelly and Erin. We made it to DSM around 11:15 with a couple stops. We could not have asked for better weather to be riding rides! (swimming was another story) Aubrie had NO fear! She went on the Inverter, the roller coasters and nothing seemed to scare her! What a little adrenaline junky! Aavyn even went on a ride with Daddy!! I was on the ride next to it and didnt even realize Jeremy was doing it- thank goodness for pics!

We finished up there around 9 loaded up the car, and headed to Omaha to check into the hotel for the night- a bed never felt so good! We were up bright and early (thanks to miss Carsyn haha) showered, ate breakfast and off to the Zoo we went. We had a great time as expected and again the weather cooperated very well (a little hot but not so humid)

When we finished with the zoo Jeremy thought we needed to hit up the Bass Pro Shop so we did that then it was homeward bound!

We got home around 630 unloaded the Tahoe and on the couch we all plopped- except for Aavyn he was ready to play!

Until next time...............

Brand New Man ;) and a Little Princess

Well I know it is not Monday but I thought you would all want to see Aavyn in his new glasses! His smile when we put them on was priceless! I can not wait to see how his actions change now that he can see.

This other picture is of Aubrie when she rode on the Boyden float in the Rock Rapids parade a couple weekends back.

I will post more pics when we get home from Adventureland and the Zoo. Have a great weekend and say a little prayer that Aavyns surgery for tubes goes well in the morning

Its been FAR to long

Well Hello again all!
I think it is time I get back on this and start a weekly update- it seems that I am being shown up by Jackie and Boo!!
Instead of back tracking all the way to Feb when I last posted we will just start with what has recently happened with us. Most of you probably read the same info on Aavyns caringbridge site, but I will start keeping that site to strictly Aavyn and this geared more towards our family.

Last weekend Aubrie and I went to the Taylor Swift concert with Audrey and Erin- we had a great time but the best part was that Aubrie was so tired she fell asleep after 2 songs! BUMMER

Ok SO we had a great 4th of July- I managed to "sneak" away for a day to head up to Albertville Outlet mall with my sister. We had a blast- of course I lost the best deal of the day award as she got a skirt for $1.80!! Don't worry Kris I will get it back next shopping trip! On Saturday Jeremy, Aavyn, myself and Bruce (can't forget him!) went to East Lake Okoboji so I could get some sun and the guys could fish. We enjoyed our peaceful day. That night we went out to Nick and Boos for a bonfire but that was short lived as Aavyn wanted nothing to do with sleeping and started crying nonstop as his teeth were bothering him- so home we headed. Sunday came and we bummed all day until it was time to get Aubrie from Ryans then it was off to Sheldon to see Auntie "I" and Uncle Chris who were here from CT. We has pizza and headed home to prepare ourselves for the week.

Jeremy and Aavyn are off for a pre-opp physical today to make sure we can do tubes in Aavyns ears on friday. We can hopefully pick up his little glasses on Thursday of this week so he can see all the action that is going to happen this weekend when we head to Des Moines to Adventureland with Kelly and Erin and the girls. We will go there on Saturday and then head back to Omaha that night so that on Sunday we can bum at the Henery Doorly Zoo - I am not sure who is more excited for the zoo-- Jeremy or the kids! It will be a nice weekend away again- I will post pictures when I get them off my camera so you can see how quickly the kids are growing!

Until Monday...... The Hoekstras

Let's give it a shot!

Ok - so I know all of you are dying to know what goes on in our family and keep up with us as the kids grow- that is why I decided (with the help of seeing others do this) to do a blog. If anything it will keep you up to date on pictures and little happenings in our lives :)

Today, there is no school, the snow is flying and the roads are icy. Aubrie is enjoying her day off but is also recovering from a cold so its good she has an extra day. Aavyn has been really good so far today - he has been really cranky lately- Jeremy and him will head to St Paul on Wednesday for a follow up appt, and Aubrie and I will stay home so she doesn't miss another time of dance and I dont have to inconvience my daycare moms twice this month.

This weekend we went to Sioux City on Saturday and went roller skating with Audrey and Erin, then we had supper with all the Hoekstra's and caught a Muskies hockey game. It was alot of fun and the kids had a blast. We were sad to see them lose in OT, but it was nice that way we were home before midnight :)
